7 INDIAN ADS/SHORT FILMS THAT WENT VIRAL ONLINE
We always complain about how most Indian ads seem senseless and how movies are usually about macho men and helpless women. But there are films and ads that are gradually trying to change the face of the Indian advertising/film world. These are ads/films with a difference. They have tried to bring about a change in the way we see each other or the way we are taught to see them. Some of these are very strong messages against everything wrong that is happening with our society, while the others encourage us to take the right steps. Have a look!
CHALK [WATCH VIDEO]
If this short film doesn’t get you to value your mom, then we don’t know what will. We have the tendency to take mothers very casually, but we only realize their value when we watch those who don’t have mothers or even a family. This short film moved millions in to tears, just painfully beautiful!
DRIVING ALONE [WATCH VIDEO]
We keep talking about how girls don’t feel safe in the country anymore. This short film is an absolute piece of art. It has taken hold of every possible debate on how women must not leave their homes after night, how they must not wear certain kind of clothes etc and twisted them upside down. Alia Bhatt has done such a fantastic job that even Ashton Kutcher couldn’t stop praising her online.
MY HUSBAND MADE ME A PROSTITUTE [WATCH VIDEO]
One must watch this short film for the sheer brilliance with which they have conveyed the message to the society. Millions of campaigns, short films and ads have been made on this subject, but what these guys managed to do with it will send down several chills down your spine.

GOOD GIRL [WATCH VIDEO]
This one challenges the way daughters are brought up in our nation. In an order to raise our daughters as “good girls” what is it that we have not given them and why it is absolutely imperative for daughters to be independent. Questions are raised on the sense of identity and tradition. It is a must watch.
START WITH THE BOYS [WATCH VIDEO]
Vogue did a splendid job with this one and questioned the way we are bringing up our little boys. What we talk to children is what they learn. The saying, “teach your son how to behave with women rather than teaching your daughter what to wear” is very well incorporated in this ad.
TANISHQ [WATCH VIDEO]
What do we think of when we hear the word marriage? Usually, a beautiful “fair” bride and a handsome groom with lots of relatives showering their blessings on the young couple. Well, this one is a tad different and that has made all the difference. This is something that our country really needs to adapt to with open arms. A jewellery ad with a difference, watch it!
DABUR VATIKA- BRAVE AND BEAUTIFUL [WATCH VIDEO]
We went speechless when we saw this. It is a campaign to support female cancer survivors. The creativity with the ad has been directed, the subtlety and yet the depth of it all is just beautiful. Must watch!
We hope such ads/films are made in the future as well.
