Forget getting an award; the rate at which award ceremonies are disappointing the audience every year, I won’t be too surprised if it doesn’t get nominated in any category! And that’s exactly why all of us must watched Parched trailer. It isn’t just about women set in rural India trying to bring about a change in their lives and succeeding; it is about however progressive we may feel as a nation, the rural area is still pretty much the same. And yet, there are brave hearts out there who are trying to bring about a change.

The film stars Radhika Apte, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Surveen Chawla as women from rural Rajasthan. From violence against women to child marriage and from female friendships to patriarchy; every aspect has been explored in the film. It shows how these women break away from the suffocating shackles of male domination and build a life of their own.

The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2015 and received rave reviews. It has been the talking point amongst youngsters and enthusiastic cinema goers ever since. The film is set in the parched rural landscape of Gujarat and explores the lives of these women through their bitter and later sweet experiences.
