Hi reader!
Cooking did not come naturally to me. It took time, labour and a lot of shouting at the burnt dishes! That had been my initial relationship with cooking for a really long time. While I could appreciate a late of food, I couldn’t cook. And then, suddenly one fine day, I watched this incredible movie Julie and Julia. It changed my life. In the movie, Amy Adams (Julie) recreates all 500 recipes by a popular home cook Julia (Meryl Streep) within a year. I felt something change inside me.
I see so many chefs and home cooks posting beautiful videos of their recipes and I thought to myself, “shouldn’t someone actually follow these recipes and see if the results are anywhere close to the original?” So here I am, trying to be Julie. But I don’t have just a singular Julia in my mind. It could be anyone, from any part of the world whose recipe I watch and recreate.
In the process, I’ll also share some of my recipes and perhaps be someone’s Julia (who knows?). All of this is just a humble attempt to put it out there that anybody can cook (may be not in the first attempt, but eventually).
I hope my incessant passion and love for food calls out to all of you!
See you on the other side.
